Which Swiss airport?

We will be flying from Phil. and are very flexible on airports. Wondering if there is an advantage for one over another. Zurich would probably be least appealing i am guessing, so curious what advice from someone who has traveled to other airports has.

Well I use Geneva, but that's because I'm going to Lac Leman (Vevey/Montreux) which is one hour from the Geneva airport by train.

Where are you going in Switzerland after you get off the plane?

I agree with suze. Use the one that is more convenient to your destination.

What IS "appealing" about both ZRH and Geneva is the ease of making railway (assuming you are using that mode) connections. Easy escalator ride down to the platforms at ZRH or the platforms immediately beyond baggage claim in Geneva.

The latter is a much smaller airport, terminal-wise.

If your final destination is anywhere along the north shore of Lac Leman then Geneva would probably be best.

For the Berner Oberland, the timings from ZRH take a little less time than those from Geneva.

Anywhere in Northeast or Northwest Switzerland might be better from ZRH.

I always rent cars and it's easier from Zürich than from Geneva. In Zürich you just walk to the car, in Geneva you have to take an airport bus to the garage an I hate it. So i always avoid Geneva if I can.

Also, Zürich feels newer and nicer.

Oh, interesting point. I've always only used the train in Switzerland, never had a rental car.

Newer and nicer? What if the fare to Geneva is lower and nicer?

I believe you can only land in Geneva or Zurich without stops from the US. There are a bunch of other airports but a PIA since you would have to change in LHR or similar (I had a client in Basel and we did Zurich whenever there were flights available since it was only an hour on the train to avoid changing to a puddle jumper from LHR to Basel).

ticino, you made our decision, we will be renting a car so Zurich sounds good. Thanks

Airport of Zurich is situated in Kloten, which means balls in Flemish.
So you'll be landing on someone's balls... Zurich is indeed convenient for renting a car. They also have great cars there, I've nearly always gotten free upgrades there.
