London was dissapointing. Many people love the british capital, but with such expectations I had before arriving, I didn´t like it at all. I didn´t like the fog -you can hardly see the buildings-, everything was expensive, bad food, tons of tourists and no charm. I guess that contrary to Paris, London has lost it´s charm.

London wasn't quite what I was expecting. I was expecting, visually, lots of old historical buildings and streets and such. London, instead was a huge, busy, modern city with small pockets of charm. It felt too much like I was visiting New York instead of a foreign country. Not really let down, glad I went, but not on the top of my list to go back to.

New Orleans on the other hand...
We were told it was like "a little piece of Europe right in the middle of the US." I don't know what part of Europe they were talking about! Smelly (urine smell, mostly), full of garbage, lots of sick drunk people. Will never, ever go back there again.

I like to read the comments! I'm living in England and so far was disappointed by Paris and Amsterdam. Of course being pickpocketed in Paris doesn't endear you to the city. I found the French police very nice! For those that don't like London, I suggest getting out and exploring. My favorite town so far is Lavenham. I did like Dublin and Brugges. But really not impressed with Paris or Amsterdam.

Oxford, England

I have been there two times, and both times I found the people to be a bit rude, the streets dirty and the buildings dilapidated. The place is crowded, lots of traffic all the time in the middle of town. I tried to eat alone at an Indian restaurant, but could not get any service unless I complained loudly. Then, the food I did end up getting was the blandest Indian meal I've ever had anywhere! I left that place quickly enough, and had a headache for the rest of the evening. Will have to say that the botanical gardens associated with the university were quite nice. However, I don't plan to visit the town again any time soon. I loved Cambridge; highly recommended.

I went to Paris three times, I was enchanted the first two times as a young adult, but the last time, all the musuems were being renovated. And Yes some shopkeepers are rude, I avoided this by not shopping. The whole purpose of the U.S. is to produce people to go shop in Paris I found out. Residents were stunned when I explained that I wasn't shopping. I did museums instead. I let down the economy of France! Window Shop instead.

It REALLY depends on when you go to a city I think. and YES there is a massive amount of dog poo on the sidewalks. Don't bother walking and looking you are too busy watching your shoes. You are better off with a taxi cab guide or a driving tour. It's not a bad city anyway to get around in. I don't like all the noise so I wouldn't sleep in the city but I would go to a Northern suburb and come in for the day. I'm frugal so you won't catch me paying $$$ for those tiny noisy rooms.

Florence is noisy and Pisa is a dump. Florence is not as exciting as the South of France and the Italian ices were better in France than Florence. The food was better in France too. The wines were good, and the churches were pretty but there is a lot of difficult shopping. I didn't know how to bargain. Plus my hotel room was robbed so I would prefer to go to Rome next time.

However Florence is worth a stop if you like shopping for leather clothing, or ornamental knives. The people are friendly and I didn't see any crime on the street. I'm glad I went, but I was used to sleep Southern France which is congenial, well fed, and well..sleepy.

London is boring but clean and very friendly. People kept coming up to me and asking me why I didn't go to Paris instead, besides that I found the locals very talkative and everywhere it's very safe compared to North America cities. I wasn't expecting much I was only sixteen at the time. I was impressed by the order, everyone lined up for things. In Paris it was whoever shoved hardest. London is polite. I'll take my mother someday.

Montreal has more crime than the cities I mentioned, but not too bad, I love Montreal.

Miami is the biggest DIVE, I've ever seen. One overpriced shopping mall with outrageous crimes and drugs on the street. Avoid it.

Geneva is a waste too, my hotel room was robbed there too. So much for Switzerland being safe. Not much to recommend it. Prefer the German or the Italian side.

Hamburg-Friendly people, polite and efficient, good food.

Looking forward to Dublin, Cork, Rome, Sicily, Corsica, the rest of Germany, maybe Austria for a dear friend of mine. I would like to see more exotic locales such as India, North and Western Africa, and Hong Kong, Taiwan and Bejing. My husband is a complete health nut though and I am having trouble convincing him of the safety of water in some places...Oh Well.

The worst that can happen is you go home on schedule.

have fun,

Julie

Disneyland. My wife and I are in our mid-fifties and we were never there so felt we "should" make the trip. Pretty amazing place, but a bit of a let down. Very few people of color, more expensive than I thought, and a bit more difficult to access than I had hoped. It wasn't horrible. Just a let down for us.

We were in Italy this past summer and we had a wonderful time wherever we went. However, whenever we went shopping and we didn't purchase anything because it wasn't exactly what we had in mind, the sales clerks became very aloof as if we had personally insulted them. What's up with that?
