Which area of Rome would you Recommend?
We are staying at the end of our honeymoon for 3 nights (which doesn't seem like enough time to see everything) so we want to make sure we stay in a hotel that is convenient to most sites and in a nice, safe area. Any recommendations? We have been looking at two hotels in the Pantheon section (Hotel del Senato and Hotel Santa Chiara). If there is another area you would recommend, help would be appreciated! (Trevi? Via Veneto? etc.) Thanks!!

While on our honeymoon, we stayed at Albergo Cesari (I think that was the name) and it was just a block or two from the Pantheon. It was a fabulous location so if the hotels you mentioned are in that area, I would definitely recommend it. It was so close to walk to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, etc., and wasn't even that far a walk to the Colosseum/Forum area. I think you will find that area very convenient to most sites and we always felt very safe as well. Lots of great restaurants around too - but just to warn you, the restaurants in the square outside the Pantheon are extremely overpriced. We got sucked in our first night there when we didn't know any better!
Would recommend the Albergo Cesari too, if you haven't decided on a hotel yet. It's on a little street that doesn't allow cars, so it was very quiet, but there are several restaurants which was convenient. We had a corner room, so had lots of windows - and the furniture was made of beautiful old wood. Really nice place, in my opinion!

First, best wishes on your upcoming marriage!
Secondly, the Pantheon/Piazza Navona area is popular with many on this board, & having been there, I see nothing wrong with it.
Personal preference based on my experiences recommend the Spanish Steps area. Check out Casa Howard on via Capo le Case or the Hotel San Carlo. Both of them have worked out really well for me in the past.
Again, the very best wishes,
BC

The Pantheon area of Rome is one of the most charming, with lots of winding cobblestone streets and outdoor cafes. The Spanish Steps area is also fine, and is more urbane, and more touristy.
I would definitely choose the Pantheon area if I were to go back to Rome.

Cesari is only slightly inferior to del Senato (in location, which is fairly subjective) - - I have stayed in both, and for better or worse, the popularity of del Senato has had the inevitable effect on their rates. Cesari is defintely a worthy alternative to consider. Slightly further away from Piazza Navona, but on the flip side slightly closer to Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps.
Whatever your choice, let me echo the congratulations on your new life in marriage... and...
Best wishes,
Rex

Thank you all for your replies and well wishes. We have decided to go with del Senato. Both Cesari and del Senato are the same price ($4 difference) but del Senato received better rating on venere.com so we thought we might as well go with the higher rating. The Pantheon area sounds perfect and just what we are looking for. Thanks again for all your feedback!! Will make sure I post details of trip upon my return.
