Which airport is more convient from Cinque Terre--Milan or Rome

I am trying to book my plane reservations for April, 2005. I will be ending my vacation in Cinque Terre and was wondering which airport would be closer for our flight home.

I suspect that Milan is closer. Is there a direct train to Milpensa?

Milan is much closer. No, the trains will go to Genoa first and then Milan.

From Milano you must take a bus to Malpensa i dont think that there is a regional train . I always had someone pick me up when i arrived at Malpensa Airport.

From Milano Centrale the Malpensa Express Bus runs every 30 minutes or so.
You can also get to the airport by rail but you'd have to catch the shuttle trains from either the Cadorna or Bovisa rail station.

Genoa is closest, and it's small enough that it's not very crowded. We flew into Rome and out of Genoa on or Italy trip, and there was no extra charge for this. The only drawback is there are no US flights from Genoa, so you may need to change planes at Milan, Paris, etc.

That is good to know! Do you have any further info on the bus from Genoa train station to Malpensa, does it run every hour, how long does it take, where do you catch it, etc. Thanks.

Its been five years since I took the bus from Malpensa to Genoa. As I recall the trip was a couple of hours on a good bus. Having just arrived from the states, I welcomed the nap on the bus. BTW, there were only a few travelers on the bus. I doubt that it runs hourly, but one might go to the Malpensa website for info on the bus schedule.

The VOLPI Genoa-Malpensa service runs twice daily (06.00 and 15.45) according to this link:

http://www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/Ed...pullman_01.htm

€ 15.50

Hope this helps ...

N.B.

On re-checking the VOLPI website, only the 06.00 departure runs daily throughout the year.

The 15.45 service runs Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays in winter/spring, then daily in high season (July-September, & Xmas/New Year).

For details go to -
http://www.volpibus.com/servizi/index.htm

Fare € 19.00

Hope this helps ...
