Where was the movie "Circle of Friends" filmed?

I'm going to Ireland in March and would like to see the village it was filmed at, if it was even filmed in Ireland and not on a made-up town square. Thanks!

Hi

If you go to www.google.com and enter "circle of friends movie location" you will find a number of sites that will tell you.

Hey guys,

How will irlandes learn how to do things him/herself if you just give the answers?

ira, I didn't care how I got the answer, as long as I did. I had previously checked on google.com but didn't use the exact phrase "movie location" so nothing was coming up. I thank all for their replies.

Hi irlandes,

But now you have learned how to better use google, which is more important than knowing where the movie was filmed, isn't it?

ira, are you going through a bad patch? You seem to be getting a little bad tempered these days. Would you like to share? Maybe someone on the board could help. Maybe sharing the problem will take a load off your mind and you may lighten up a little. Best wishes for an improvement in the mood swings.

Hi CAD,

Irlandes got the point.

"Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day.

Teach him to fish, you feed him for life".

CAD, I have always found Ira to be polite when offering suggestions. I see nothing rude in his response. He is merely suggesting a quicker way to get the desired information. Perhaps he would like some to do a little searching on their own before posting on the forum. (Something I confess I should have done before posting a few of my messages.)

Some folks appreciate the suggestions that they receive on this board so much that they don't do the legwork themselves.

At least Ira pointed this out kindly. There are others who would not have so. Just my opinion. I don't think Ira needs any help with "mood swings".

You beat me to it mealdridge. Inistioge is indeed the town and the bus ride that she takes is over the Wicklow mountains. The film is worth watching for the scenery alone.

Correction: The film is ONLY worth watching for the scenery alone!

I agree DixieChick. The movie was absolutely nothing like the book. I can't believe they can even say it was "based on" the book! More like "we borrowed the names and location from.."

As Earnest Hemingway was said to have responded when asked about how he felt Hollywood treated his work when they were made into movies, "They throw you the money and you throw them the book".
