Where to stay on the Amalfi Coast ?
We're renting a car in Milan, stay in Tuscany 5 nights and then go to the Amalfi Coast.
Where is the best place to stay, Ravello? Positano? Any other suggestion ?
2 nights is enough to drive around ?
Then I would like to stay in Capri for 3 nights. What about Anacapri ?
If anyone can help... Thanks

By accident I ended up in a place called Saint Angelo which is only 3 kilometers and one train stop from Sorrento. It is just as beautiful, with the dramatic views, but without the touristy stuff. It is as close as you can get to the real Italy but only 5 minutes by train from all the buzz. I stayed in a backpacker hostel called Porto Salvo which is an old convent and still attached to a working church. I would not advise anyone to drive on the Amalfi coast. If you do take a car, take a very very small one. I was amazed at the skill of the bus drivers.

I prefer Positano as a base. It has easier connections to other towns along the coast by boat or bus, as well as to Capri. Ravello is inland, very quiet, and it can be difficult to get around at night as you're dependent on bus service.
However, if you really only have two nights for the AC, I'd leave your visit for another time. Tuscany to Positano is a very long drive, and hardly worth it for two days.

Hi C,
I suggest that you drive to Sorrento and drop the car.
From Sorrento you can take the SITA bus all along the coast to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, as well as Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mt Vesuvius and Naples.
You can also take the ferry to Capri.
Enjoy your visit.

The drive from Tuscany to Naples takes about six hours, I know because we did it.
I think Sorrento or nearby is a better base. But two nights is really skimping if you intend to see any of the towns.
Travel on the Amalfi coast is very slow going and traveling from town to town is time consuming.
If you want to do Capri or Anacapri, think about two nights and three on the mainland.
Have a great time.
