Where to stay in Berlin--

Will be in Berlin for 3 days. Then headed to airport. Want to see the sights and have a few nice meals with family. We are 5 people-- where would you stay?? Looking for something nice and that accomodates 5.

Thanks.

How many rooms? Budget? I like staying in the Ku'damm area but most people prefer Mitte which is closer to many places you'll want to see. Public transportation there is quite good no matter where you eventually wind up staying.

Potsdam is worth is visit if you have time.

I was also going to say most people go for Mitte. I like the Nikolaiviertel myself (a rebuilt east German version of a medieval quarter which doesn't take itself too seriously). Wherever you pick look for proximity to the U-Bahn. It doesn't matter where you stay so much as being close to stations because the city is so spread out.

I love the area around Museum Island. You can walk to many major sites from this spot. Easy taxi ride from Tegel.

I stayed at Hotel Melia on Friedrichstraße. Recommend.

I visited Berlin six times, stayed in different areas, but still like that part of the city the most.

Thanks. We are set in this area.
What tours should we take? We are 11. It would be nice to have some structure to learning about the city.

Thanks.

sorry, I never take tours but I understand there is a number of walking tours starting in different parts of the city. Berlin has excellent public transit.

Walking tour, bike tour or bus tour sounds good. Would love more input.
