Where to stay between Porto and Lisbon

We are flying into Lisbon in October then traveling on to Porto by train for the first part of our trip. I booked lodging for 6 nights in Porto and 7 nights in Lisbon but am rethinking 7 nights in Lisbon. Would you recommend Coimbra to visit for one or two nights between Porto and Lisbon (by train)? Any suggestions are welcomed.

We enjoyed our three nights in Coimbra. Seven nights in Lisbon would be two nights too many for me.

I think two nights in Coimbra works good. I think 5 nights in Lisbon with a day trip to Sintra works well

In Coimbra we stayed in an apartment. I just looked for the name in my trip report, but I failed to mention it, and although I think I booked it through Booking.com, I don't see it in my booking history. FWIW, I'd probably not choose it again anyway, thanks to the 65 steps!

Here's the detailed trip report if you think it might help.

I left my liver in Lisbon

FWIW, we spent five nights in Porto, three in Pinhao, three in Coimbra, three in Evora, three in Sintra and five in Lisbon.

We also stayed at La Quinta. Decent restaurant. Easy parking. Nice large swimming pool for laps after a long day in the town. Easy Uber or Bolt to anywhere around Coimbra

Wow! What a great trip report! The details and photos were fabulous. We are not spring chickens, so will definitely have to train for all the hills and stairs!
Would you stay in the VIsionaire Apartments if you went to Lisbon again?

We stayed at the Quinta das Lagrimas as did Fodorite progol. Loved it and the staff, Used the spa sauna and indoor pool while my friend enjoyed the outdoor pool and had a wonderful celebratory dinner in their Arcadas restaurant as well as lunch in their Pedro & Ines, very well priced. Nice breakfast as well and welcome port upon arrival. Very classy place steeped in history, Easy in and out with handy guarded parking.

I would if I were to stay in Baixa. Not sure we'd return to Lisbon though, just too busy for us.

We stopped twice between Lisbon and Porto. Tomar and Coimbra. Really liked Coimbra, but enjoyed Tomar a bit more.
