Where to stay between Dingle and the Blarney Castle????

We are 3 couples flying into Shannon in July. So far we have booked 2 nights in Doolin and 3 nights in Dingle. Now our husbands tell us they want to kiss the Blarney Stone!!! So, we have one night left before we head back up to Shannon airport for our last night.

Where should we stay between Dingle and Blarney Castle? We had planned on Killarney. Is that feasible? We would like an area a little different than Doolin and Dingle. Thanks!

Thanks hopingtotravel!! Actually, I am considering Kenmare. Sounds like a great place and it's 2 hours away, so I think that may be doable!!

The year we were there Kenmare had won a "tidy towns" award so it was very clean. As I recall, we enjoyed shopping there more than Killarney.

Kenmare would be an excellent choice.

Thanks Tim and Hopingtotravel for the replies. Are you familiar with Lansdowne
Arms Hotel? We're thinking of booking it in Kenmare. After 4 nights of B& B's we're thinking we might want a hotel! Where did you stay?

We stayed at the Waters Edge B&B which is a little ways outside of town. Lovely house, beautiful setting, gracious host, fine breakfast, and very reasonable rates (cash only).

In his 2005 Ireland guidebook Rick Steves says this about the Lansdowne Arms Hotel: "recently refurbished, centrally located, 200-year-old historical landmark with large, crisp rooms." If you choose to stay n a hotel, this sounds like a very good one.

Pay no attention to local rumors that locals pee on the Blarney Stone at night! Bring some antiseptic and rag IMO before bussing the stone.
