Where to spend day in Milan?

My husband and I will be spending a week in the Como/Maggiore area and then flying out of Milan. We'd like to spend one day in Milan -- and would love suggestions on how best to spend our time. We are interested in history, homewares (furniture, housegoods, etc.), architecture and maybe a bit of shopping. Any suggestions on WHERE and how long to spend our time during the day there would be greatly appreciated. (Restaurant tips welcomed too!)

Hi CG,

Have you looked up Milan under "desinations"?

I had a very pleasant lunch at

Al Mercante
Piazza Mercanti, 17
Zona Duomo

Most of the clientele seemed to be Milanese business people.
