Milan Duomo - still under scaffolding?

Does anyone know whether the Duomo in Milan is still covered by scaffolding, and whether it will be this summer? I remember last summer it was - if the scaffolding is still on, I might skip Milan this trip. Thanks.

It's still covered. I don't know when they'll take it down.

There's much more to Milan than the Duomo, see http://www.straughan.com/italy/milano.htm for some links and tips.

Hi

As DeirdreStraughan says there is more to see in Milan apart from the Duomo. But I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed when I saw that the front was covered My wife and I went to Milan last June and we spent a few days there. I have posted a trip report with pictures on my personal homepage www.gardkarlsen.com. Maybe you can find some useful info there

Yes, and the interior is as magnificent as ever...but if the main reason you are going to Milan is to "view" the cathedral and little else I'd save my time and money and simply go elsewhere

Today the Milan Tourist info. bureau responded to my question regarding the scaffolding. I, too, was looking forward to standing in front of the facade this summer and taking it all in. It will be covered for another two years!
