We are spending on day in Heidelberg and will have a car. I can't figure out where to park to be near the major sights (castle, old bridge, etc.) I've gone to the city web site and have printed out the addresses of all the parking lots, but they all seem to be quite far away from where we want to be. Can anyone offer any guidance?

There are several parking garages near the castle and old bridge, I would recommend parking near the old bridge. You can walk up to the castle (steep walk) and have access to the old bridge, and hauptstrasse. If you have time stop by the Victoria cafe. It has a beautiful view of the castle and serves good food and excellent deserts. it is on the Hauptstrasse!

We drove to Heidelberg and found an underground parking near or on Hauptstrasse after getting off the highway. It was not too far from the Heidelberg Castle lift station.

P13 is most likely your best bet. It's located under Karlsplatz and is very convenient to the old bridge and the funicular up to the castle. Follow the signs towards the Aldstadt, then the parking signs to the lot.
