Where to buy non-touristy t-shirts in Paris

Definitely not looking for "Sorbonne" or "J'aime Paris" t-shirts. Edgier stuff would be great. And while this may sound touristy to some, Babar and Le Petit Prince t-shirts could tempt me. Any recommendations for where to buy such things while in Paris?

Do Parisians wear logo-type tee shirts..? If not, I guess you are relegated to the tourist shops or maybe the malls (Place d'Italie, Montparnasse, les Halles or Defense..)

I think they have Petit Prince things in Galery Lafayette and other large department stores, but probably child-sized.
Certainly not 'edgy' but Gap London had some nice London Tshirts for kids; with Big Ben I think. Maybe they have Gap Paris shirts too.

Yes, there is a children's store on the Ile St-Louis - I can't remember the name of it but it's on the one street that has all the shops. If you can fit into a child's size large then they have the cutest little tee-shirts with Babar and other cartoons in Parisian locales.

You could always try Tati at Metro Barbès-Rochechouart. Very cheap mass-produced clothes, not geared for the tourist market, but not exactly designer or edgy.

For children's clothes, try Du pareil au même - it's a chain: www.dpam.fr

You may find something in some of the museum shops.

There are,(or were)indeed; Paris GAP t-shirts. I don't know if they're still available.I have two, thanks to my daughter, who bought them for me when I lived in the States.

Living in Paris, they make good nightshirts!

Comptoir des Cotonniers (branches all over Paris) has t-shirts with a French bulldog.

I'll keep an eye out for you in my walks.

NOXA - Les Drapeaux de France which is a must-visit if you're after Tintin merchandise. It has an Espace Tintin, which means that it's essentially a mini Tintin Shop. They've got a really good range of products : statues, T-shirts, posters, a whole rack of postcards, mugs, watches, books and the like. The staff are really helpful and friendly, so if you visit the Louvre it's worth making a detour. The shop also stocks other figurines like Astérix and Le Petit Prince.

There's a t-shirt boutique in the upper part of the Marais (right off Rue du Bretagne) where I bought a tee for a friend -- said something like "No Police Brutality" in French with an abstracted image of a cop swinging a baton.

The literal translation was more like "Police Everywhere, Justice No Where" and the shop woman's English wasn't good and my French sucks so it took me an extra few minutes with my dictionary to figure out what it meant. Friend absolutely loved it -- you can also choose the t-shirt styles/colors the print designs will go on. There were many different designs with French phrases, various images, etc.

I can look up the name of the shop and address if you're interested.

It sounds like you are looking for touristy Tshirts, as something else would just be a regular plain-colored Tshirt and you could buy that in lots of stores. But you could get that at home. I've bought some nice Tshirts at Zara or Kookai, Monoprix, or even Bon Marche. Monoprix were cheaper, but I got the others during summer sales when things were pretty cheap.

fishee, your shop sounds like just the thing, if you can remember the name.

crepes, I'm not familiar with C & A. Does it stand for something?

No t-shirts on the zadig and voltaire website, but I might check out the shop if I'm in the neighborhood. I love the name!

Tintin is, of course, Belgian, not French.
I have seen Asterix tshirts for sale; can't remember where though.
C&A is an inexpensive clothes shop.
