My husband, teen age son and I spent 8 days in Rome in late Feb 2007 and had spectacular weather for touring (warm, springlike days, cooler evenings, about 2 hours total of rain) I wish you the same luck next year

There are some pretty affordable agencies for renting apartments in Rome. We used realrome.com and had a very good experience.
