I cheated and looked up the estate agents company on the web and there it was. Rue Foch, Montpellier.

Hi

I had to check out why it was built.
It built around 1700 to celebrate :

Confirmation of Montpellier being under royal rule, the achievements of Louis XIV, cancellation of the Edict of Nantes, and even some reference to victory against the hated English.

Symbole de l?affirmation de l?autorité royale sur la ville de Montpellier, l?arc de triomphe s?inscrivait dans une logique de délimitation de la ville médiévale vers l?ouest. Les événements principaux du règne de Louis XIV sont représentés sur des sculptures qui ont été réalisées par Philippe Bertrand. Une allusion directe côté ville, évoque la victoire du Roi contre l?hérésie, avec la Révocation de l?Edit de Nantes en 1685.
L?autre face de l?arc de triomphe évoque les luttes contre l?Empire et l?Angleterre. Leurs deux symboles, l?Aigle et le Lion, sont ainsi terrassés par Louis XIV, représenté en Hercule, coiffé par la victoire.
