Where is the nightlife in Paris?

A month ago, we stayed at the Marais (eastern area), and there was nightlife there every night of the week. I particularly remember a bar/cafe called Les Philosophes that was constantly packed (it might have been open all night, as I never saw it closed), and when we met a french friend of ours, she actually picked that place. Next door there is a place called La Chaise Au Plafond or so that also seemed very popular, and there were lots of other bars, a jazz bar or two, and people constantly coming and going all night. One night, we stopped to watch two guys set up a piano in the middle of the street and proceed to give a free musical show, and much later, we saw they had moved indoors to one of the bars and were entertaining the crowd. We are in our mid-late 20's, and we felt the crowd here was a good crowd, nicely dressed, hip, and thoroughly Parisian. Ali

I'm not 20 so glad you got good advice. You sure can walk to Bastille from Marais.

For the Parisian guys -- what about Fleche d'Or near Gambetta metro? I thought that was supposed to be popular with that age group. Here's its URL www.flechedor.com It's not a club, but I know in the area I stay (Montparnasse), younger folks hang out at the Cosmos cafe on bd MOntparnasse (near Vavin metro) and somewhat Mustang Cafe down the street a little (which is what it sounds like, Parisian Tex-Mex, but a younger friendly crowd and they have music sometimes). I got into a big argument with a French guy there who insisted Bill Clinton ran the CIA (I think he was thinking of Geo Bush Sr), but it was all in fun, of course, as arguing in cafes usually is. I'm much older, but the crowd seemed young.
