Where in Paris to watch the Superbowl?

Well we took advantage of a great deal: Houston to Paris for only $378RT. Then I realized.... oops, we'll be there during the Superbowl. Can someone please tell me where would be a good place to watch the game. I realize that there will be a significant time difference, but I'm sure it will be available to watch. Any good sports bars etc?
We will be staying in the Rue Cler area but it doesn't have to necessarily be in that area.

There a number of bars that probably will show the game. The Great Canadian Quay St. Augustin Moose or The Beaver are all possibilities. We are living here for the year and are actually catching the Bengals-Steelers game this Sunday night 10:30 p.m. start time at The Great Canadian. (We have lived in Cincinnati, and currently have a home in Pgh). The screens at The Great Canadian are great--they have large screens in the men's room, from what my two boys and husband tell me! the burgers are the best we've found in Paris. We have not tried The Moose or The Beaver, but you can look them up. I will try to find the exact address and phone number of The Great Canadian and post it. Before I get yelled at for being an "ugly American" let me just say that when you are living far away from home, it's nice to keep up some traditions from home, especially with kids.

I would advise you NOT to watch any TV station that might have scores (such as CNN) in the few hours prior to viewing the game.

Grandmere,
We are a split family! We cheered for the Steelers even when we lived in Cincinnati, but since moving to Pgh. we have a traitor among us!! The address for The Great Canadian is 25 Quai de Grands Augustins. Happy New Year!

Thank you so much for this address! IF, big IF Cincinnati wins Sunday, they will be playing Denver the following Sunday. We will be in Paris on that date, and are from Cincinnati now, with my family living in Denver!! Will they also be showing that game?

Luckyexpat, one traitor is probably acceptable; it must add to the family dynamic on Sundays! Perhaps you will join us 'burgh Fodor folks for a GTG when you return!

Images2, truth be told, you can probably use a small "if"; we're the ones who need the big "IF"!

Thanks for the responses and especially the address, luckyexpat. Not being familiar with streets in Paris, which arrondisment or neighborhood is this address for the Great Canadian in? Which metro station is nearest?

Anyone have experience with the other 2 places listed; The Moose or The Beaver?

Thanks,Intrepid1 for the reminder about being careful to not accidentally see the score ahead of time on TV. That happened once before when I wasn't thinking. Ruined the whole night for me.

The Great Canadian is located in the 6th arr. one block from St. Michel. The telephone # is: 01 46 33 54 20. Generally we call ahead to see what games are showing.

Don't forget that the offical starting time for Superbowl XL which will feature Da BEARS is 6pm eastern time, which makes it midnight in Paris. With the game lasting ~4 hours, make sure the bar will be opened that late.

Intrepid1,

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but if the game is shown live on TV in Paris, how will CNN know the score beforehand?

You may want to contact the famous Harry's Bar at 5 rue Daunon, 2e, M° Opéra, tel: 01 42 61 71 14, 11am to 4am. Not sure if they have a website, but it's been around for a VERY long time.

With its time-polished wood, American College sporting pennants and clubby feel, it’s difficult not to fall in love with this intimate little bar as soon as you enter the saloon-like doors. Opened in 1911, Harry’s is the oldest American-style bar in the city and, thanks to its famous advertising slogan — “sank roo doe noo” — created for servicemen during the First World War, boasts one of the best-known addresses in the capital. Its presidential straw poll is world-famous and surprisingly accurate, having been wrong only once: predicting George Bush’s re-election in 1992. Not only is it the original “Harry’s Bar,” pre-dating by decades other pretenders such as the one in Venice, but it also claims to be the birthplace of the Bloody Mary (9.60E). Its superb team of bartenders also whips up a damn fine vodka martini (10.10E).

Hey I also will be in Paris during the Superbowl. I just realized it myself and worse yet I am from Chicago!

Please please where can I see the game with people who will be screaming and yelling as well?

Since the Super Bowl is shown on French television, I would presume that every sports bar worthy of the name will be showing it. Don't expect too much yelling and screaming, except of course from the Americans present. Café Oz on rue Saint Denis as well as the Frog & Rosbif, also on rue Saint Denis, are well known sports venues.
