Where in Italy should our family of 5 adults spend New Year's Eve?

Our family of 5 adults will be spending 6 nights in Rome at Christmas. We will fly out of Rome, but we have 4 nights, including New Year's Eve, that we could plan other locations. We have considered Venice, Florence, different hill towns, and Rome. We can not decide and hope your advice will help!

We are a family of 4 spending New Year's Eve in Florence. My kids are in their 20's. Any advice? We are leaving VERY early the following morning for the USA.
