Christmas and New Years Eve dinner

My family and I will be in Florence for
both Christmas and New Years Eve. Any
restaurant recommendations for dinner
on those nights?
There will be six of us, all adults.

My wife and I will also be in Florence New Year's Eve. And we will be in Venice Christmas Day. We would also love some recommendations.

Thanks.

You will both get better response if you re-post w/ Florence (and Venice) in the titles.

"Christmas and New Years Eve dinner" doesn't even mention Italy let alone Florence. You could be asking about anywhere in Europe . . . . . .

Janis - I'm sorry. I meant to ask do you have a recommendation for a restaurant in Florence or Venice on Christmas or New Years Eve?

Janis is only here to be nasty and superior toward you, not to help you find a restaurant.

I suggest having the hotel you have reserved make a recommendation, and then ask them to make the reservation for you. These nights are tough in Europe, but last year the hotel we had reserved in Munich made our Christmas Eve dinner reservation, and it all worked out great.

I think Janis IS trying to to be helpful--putting Florence in the post's title will be more likely to attract our Italy experts and generate more responses.

robertino - your really don't deserve a reply but here goes: As underhill says I WAS trying to help. How on earth is someone going to know the OP or jpm are asking about Florence and Venice w/o them being in the title? There are literally hundreds of folks on here who could answer these questions - but they have to open the thread first.

I have absolutely no idea where they should eat over the two holidays. I only opened the thread in the first place because I thought the question might be about London or Paris.

And how is answering about Munich helping them out???

and honey, how do you know I'm only here to be nasty and superior since you have never been on here before. If you have a reasonable suggestion - go for it . . . ..

Pointing out the better ways to word titles, locating old postings, including information about actual budget targets (as opposed to 'reasonable hotels, for example), indicating what one's interests are (as opposed to anyone else's 'must sees') are efforts to help just as much as providing the name of a restaurant is trying to help. Any suggestion can be ignored, but when we are asking for free advice, that's what we're going to get.

As for the OP, if you don't get specific information on restaurants that someone is 100% sure are going to be open this year on the holidays, you can always look into restaurants that are located within hotels, as they are bound to be serving dinner.

You might also want to ask your hotel for a suggestion.

We just returned from three weeks in Italy and one of the best meals we had was at Ristorante La Giostra in Florence located on the Borgo Pinti near the Piazza Ciompi. I don't know if they would be open on the holiday, but if so I'd definitely recommend it. Reservations a necessity.

I am not sure of your price range, but I would also recommend La Giostra in Florence for a special Christmas dinner.

For Venice, I would recommend Hotel Cipriani's restaurant.
