Where in Germany were these pictures taken?
I enjoy travel trivia. One of the magazines (newletters) I once subscribed to - ITN (International Travel News) always had a feature entitled "Where in the World". Each month it had a photograph of somewhere in the world and readers could guess where it was taken. It was one of my favorite features.
I have several travel trivia quizzes on my website that feature questions and 'where are we' type pictures. I am going to add some new quizzes eventually but thought that for now - some of you Fodorites familiar with Germany might enjoy taking on the challenge of figuring out 'where in Germany' some pictures were taken. Just a little diversion from responding to normal questions.
Here are five photos. Think you know where they are? Post your reponses below. I will post correct answers after a few have had a chance to respond and the correct answers guessed. If this thread shows interest I will post additional photos later.

Some might be very easy for veteran travelers to Germany but may not be for others. I warn you however that not all will be easy... Ben
If you want a chance to guess on your own - don't read the responses below until you have seen the pictures.

#1 - Berchtesgaden with the Watzmann massif in the background. Quite famous view.
I would be surprised if you locate #2 and #4 - there are too many castle ruins in Germany. #4 reminds is an old church built in the Romanesque era, enlarged in late-Gothic/early Renaissance times (see top of the tower). Reminds me of Southern German churches, but where?

Aramis is correct - Picture #3 is of the Unterstadttor in the lower section of Meersburg. And of course Ingo correctly recognized Berchtesgaden (#1) taken from the road that goes up to Maria Gern. My apologies for Picture #2. I was just reviewing the pictures and realized that the picture of the ruins of Ehrenberg are actually in Austria (above the town of Reutte) - tut mir leid. Altamiro recognized #4 - the Kloster in the small Black Forest village of Alpirsbach (that was the toughie of the group). #5 is too easy so I will let someone recognize it before I reveal it's location.
