Where did my thread go?!!!
It has happened before that I post a question and can't find it later on, so I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Today I posted a thread asking about how to get from Prague to Venice, and I have searched for it using the keywords "venice," "prague," and "cheapest" and can't find it!! I have specified a search topic and not specified, and it doesn't come up. ANyone had this happen before?

I've found the same thing - using keywords to look for previous threads to which I've contributed often doesn't seem to work. For example I've mentioned Martin Wishart's restaurant in at least 2 lists of Edinburgh restaurant recommendations, but when I search on 'Wishart' I can only find one. When I searched earlier today on 'dalek' for a list of pubs I recommended in Manchester, it didn't find it; but I then found it by searching on 'Manchester'.
Fodor's editors ?
I've now stuck my oar in on too many threads to look at them all !!

My guess is that the search only searches a sample of the posts, but I don't know.
But the search doesn't seem to search the most recent posts (in the past day, for example) -- the posts have probably not been indexed yet in the database or something.
Just my speculation.

I agree with all the above comments, and it has been my experience that nothing from the past several days will come up in any search. They apparently have to index them first, and that seems to take a few days to a few weeks.

If you want to search and get "your" thread, put quotes around the search words, and include your screen name. For instance, a sample search for me would be "Italy" "Venice" "wanderlust5" and it will only bring up threads with those three all included. Nothing else. and that should narrow the field and my thread will show up. If you don't put quotes around the search words, you get EVERY thread with any of the words.
