A new French Film- I hope it's here
I loved an old film, "Boudou saved from drowning. The seine was the water in that film and years later adapted to an American film that starred Bette Midler drained the spirit of the original. Now I read of another remake, this time French that looks promising. Simply titled, "Boudou,"stars Gerard Depardieu, who I know is physically built for the part, and the actorGerard Jugnot of th hit film , "les Choristes,"plays the husband who saves him.
Rent the original if you can to compare it when this one is finally here.

Finally got to see Les Choristes, Mimi, and absolutely adored it. Thanks for the heads up on that one.
I also recently saw "Schultze Gets the Blues," a German film. Unless you want to get the blues, avoid this one.

I think she was not going to accept he was dead. She lied about his watch etc.
his depression that she didn't acknowledge really. So-the ending was---she was going on with her denial.

FYI, Boudu (actual spelling) got, to say the least, mixed reviews among French critics, and, despite the over media exposure, is already slowly disappearing from French screens. For those who can read French, all movie reviews, professional critics and general public altogether, are compiled on www.allocine.fr

Serendipity it may be, but I like the idea of Charlotte Rumpling (I could watch her read the telephone directory).
If you liked 'Under the Sand', you'll enjoy 'La Piscine' - not sure how/whether the title might have been translated for the US market, in which she is a novelist with writer's block who stays in her publisher's house in France. She manages both to play a frump and to demonstrate - unadorned (ahem) - how well she's weathering.
