French Film Festival-Boston

Our museum is having a French film festival, Tonight I watched two.
The first: "See How They Run" ( Embrassez qui vous) Charlotte Rampling, Jacques Dutronc, Carole Bouquet and a few more. The girl who plays Rampling's daughter looks like Heidi Fleiss. This is a laugh-out loud black comedy concerning three dysfunctional familis and friends with a variety of misquided sexual romps. As usual IMO, Rampling is facinatiog to watch. The direstor is also in it (Michel Blanc.
The second one is: "The Story of Marie and Julen(L'Histoire de Marie et Julien) this bizarre love story was way too long with fade outs constantly and some of the love-making scenes excessive. This film is directed by Jaques Rivette, one of the primary filmmakers of the new wave. It stars Emmanuelle Béart, Jersy Radziwilowicz and Anne Bruchet. The story focuses on a lonely clock repairman reunited with a former lover. I can't say too much else, it would spoil the later part of the story. This film has the greatest CAT actor I have ever seen in a film. It's black with a white mask markings. For me, he stole the picture!

cigalechanta, What a coincidence. In CA there is a French Film Festival starting this Friday evening. It is in Sacramento.

Our youngest daughter won a set of tickets. She was thrilled.

I'm jealous of both of you.

Yes I know, though their films are other choices. One of the sponsers is French Selections where you can buy French foods and a few books on line.

Lucky you, Mimi, to live in a city where there'd be a film festival devoted to French films! I think I mentioned that my husband and I went to see Bon Voyage last week, and we were the only people viewing it that night--imaginez!

Grandmere, I liked that film very much. We will be seeing another tomorrow night. You know I was house bound for several weeks, now this is heaven! Wish I could afford to see them all.
