Going from Rome to Ostia in two weeks. I understand that I have to get there partially by metro (or bus) and partially by train from the Pyrimid area. So, where can I find a train time table for the train portion of the trip? I am concerned about getting back into the city. I would rather spend more time at the Ostia Antiqua site and less time waiting for the train to get back to the Pyrimid metro. Also would like to stop at Valpetti market near Pyrimid.
Can anyone direct me to a train scheduled for the train portion of the trip? I tried trainitalia.com but can't determine the acutal to and from locations.

It is a ferrovie urbane train rather than one served by Trenitalia. Go to

Be sure to click the little British flag at the right side to get the English version. You want the Roma-Lido di Ostia line. I'm still trying to locate schedule info, but in general the route is ative from 5:18am until 11:30pm.

I have a question, though. Like the OP, I've read that you can take the metro to the Piramide station, and then the nearby train to Ostia. From looking at the route map on the site you posted, it looks like one could also "transfer" at Basilica San Paolo or EUR Magliana. Are any of these locations easier/harder than Piraminde/PSP?

I would stick with the Piramide Station that is were the Lido Train begins plus if you are early all you have to do is step outside for some history in plain sight.
The Pyramid, City Walls with Gate and a WWII site. It's where the Allies 1st entered Rome and where the Nazis executed some local citizens either Partisans or innocent civilians in retaliation, I don't recall which.
The other stations are fine also IIRC its 2 metro tracks and 2 Lido Train tracks side-by-side in those stations.

I would say the train station <G> but the Piramide Station is where it leaves from and comes back to. You can take the subway there or take a bus from the termini, if subway walk upstairs and cross over to the side of the train heading south. You arrive exit train and walk through station, across a bridge raised over the road, and directly into the site\park area. Wear good shoes are there is a ton of stuff to see and its a lot of walking. There is small cafe on grounds for a soda or whatever.
