Where can I buy Cuban cigars in Paris?

My boyfriend loves cigars and considers it a real treat to smoke Cubans when in Europe! We'll be in Paris over New Year's--where's a good cigar shop? He likes to take time and wander around in nice ones with a large selection. Thanks!!

Just one place is Dunhill, Rue de la Paix, quite near the Opera Garnier.

Just about anyplace, I'd think. We bought them for DH's office pals quite readily at several smokeshops.

They are not illegal, and I'm sure many tourists enjoy smuggling home something that smacks of forbidden fruit. I know we did.

Here's an old post with the address where we shopped in 2002.

Message: There's a La Casa del Habano located at 169 Blvd. St. Germain in the 6th. I purchased a few smokes there last week. The prices were reasonable and the cigars were properly stored.

There are other posts if you do a search.

Hi mp

If you are caught they will take away your contraband.

If you are caught again, you will have a problem.

Importing them into the US is, of course, illegal and as Ira points out if they are discovered they will be seized. All depends on your point of view I suppose.

If one were to bring home cuban cigars, one could simply take the bands off, mail those home, and carry said cigars home in say a spare Dominican box that the cigar shop might have. Just don't exceed the personal limit on tabacco products.

In terms of the potential morality of enjoying one of Fidel's finest here at home, it helps to know that JFK had Pierre Salinger purchase almost the entire Cuban cigar inventory between NY and Washington just days before signing the Cuban embargo. If JFK can light one up at the White House, it must not be that unAmerican

Cigar Afficiando has a list of the best places to buy Cuban Cigars in Paris. Here's the site:http://www.winespectator.com/Wine/Ar...5,1923,00.html
I've purchased Cubans from La Casa de Habano on Blvd St Germain, the first listing, a few times. Good fresh cigars.

We did the same thing that Ryan did with no problems. I'm sure Customs know all about this tactic, but there's not much they can do (I suppose) without any hard evidence you've got Cubans in your Dominican Republic box.
