What transportation from Airport to use?

I am trying to decide which airport to hotel transfer/cab service is the best. Stephano which has been recommended here is fully booked for the day I arrive, but his associate would pick me up for 45 euro's. The other two services are the airport shuttle for 37 euro's, or Roma Shuttle for 35 euro's. Lastly, do you recommend these, or a registered cab just outside the airport? Are they less expensive??

Hi schnookies, we meet again. I always use limoservicerome.com

they are reliable and cost 45 euro.

dont use the company limoserviceSrome, they have pretty poor reviews.

A cab would be about the same but you may run the risk of getting into a nonlicensed cab if you are not careful.

I like the idea of the driver waiting for me with a litle sign, it is more comforting.

We just got back from Italy and I would recommend a car service if you can find good recs here for Rome. We were totally "taken" by our cab driver in our trip from the airport to Piazza Republica (by Termini Station). I have no reason to believe that he was not "an official cabbie" given that he had a meter etc. He charged us a "supplement" of 24 Euros, when it is my understanding that it should have only been about 2-3 Euros for the 2 pieces of luggage that we placed in the trunk. We paid a whopping 79 Euros for the trip. I realized I was being taken, but didn't really feel like I had any recourse once we were on our way. In fact, I found that the most of the cab drivers had the meters running before we even got into the cab. Luckily we only used cabs a few times as we walked almost everywhere. Ironically, it was the cabbies and not the pickpockets that I should have been worried about during our trip!
