What to wear in London late May?

What to wear in London late May?
Weather Channel says 60% showers most of our trip next week. Anyone recently visit London? Suggestions? Family of 4, 2 parents, 20 y/o son, 14 y/o daughter. Thanx for these and any other related suggestions!

Today outside I wore jeans, a long sleeve shirt, fleece pullover, and a raincoat on top. 3 days ago I had on lightweight capris, sleeveless shirt, and sandals - and I was hot. It can really be anything so bring layers and a breathable waterproof coat with a hood. Plus walking shoes for all. Have fun.

There has been enormous variation in the London weather recently.
I would go for our old friend layers.
Personally, I prefer a light-weight waterproof jacket to a brolly.
Umbrellas are a pain to the carrier and to pedestrians.

I've no idea what 60% showers is supposed to mean. Do you? Does it matter to anyone whether it'll be 60% (whatever that means) or 90% or 10%?
It's pouring right now. Half an hour ago it wasn't. Over the next week, sometimes it'll be rainihg and sometimes it won't.
So see you keep dry. When it's raining, which it will be a lot of the time..
Of course you don't need to keep dry when it's not. Which it won't be a lot of the time
So have clothes you can take off easily, quickly and decently when it's not raining.
Or when you're indoors. Which you will be a lot the time, unless you came here intending to sunbathe on beaches all the time, in which case you chose the wrong place

I agree about umbrellas. I really am a little old lady and umbrellas always seem to be at exactly the right height to put my eyes out.

Well,it's been swinging about lately.
Two days ago my son got sunburnt at school during playtime, I wore a sleeveless top and pencil skirt to work..it was too hot for troussers.This morning I wore a sleeveless summer dress with a thin crochet sweater left open. You'll definitely need a lightweight waterproof of some kind. At least one cotton sweater and a fleece. But you know what,it isn't cold,cold.
Enjoy your trip.

Thanks, everyone! We've got mainly jeans/khakis packed, w a couple of pairs of shorts, and light tops with a hoodie to layer. Sandals, flip flops, and tennis shoes. Disposal rain ponchos and 1 FOUR INCH umbrella I could not resist. Can't wait till tomorrow!!!!
