The big attraction is Osborne House, the residence of Queen Victoria in her later years. Another is Carisbrook Castle. Here's a link for more:

Osborne House is quite interesting. Take time to visit the out buildings including the little house where the children were "tutored". Fascinating stories from the guides of how Queen Victoria insisted her children learn to be somewhat independent, planting their own garden, doing chores, etc. The "true and original Victorian" interiors are of course wonderful -- not spectacular or elegant, just, well, Victorian!
It may be a little cool in March, but when we were there tons of people were doing picnics on the grounds there.

Osborne House is fascinating. Unfortunately - it is NOT OPEN in March (April / Oct only)
There is still plenty to see on the Isle - but mostly of the scenery type rather than bldgs to visit. The Needles, Shanklin, beaches, pretty thatched roofed villages, etc.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I emailed the Osborne House and they are open for guided tours in March and, with notice, will arrange for us to view the Terraced Gardens, however the grounds are not open. Any suggestions for museums, historical sites or other interesting areas?
