What to do in Helsinki

We will have one cruise ship length day in Helsinki at the end of May. What should we be sure to do or see?
Thanks

You may get some ideas from my phototravelogue of two visits to the city: http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=...&y=-95hdl3

For sure go in the city and explore, walk around. Helsinki is a very modern city with some nice spots for great views, maninly around the harbor. There is the Suomenlinna Fortress nearby that you get to by ferry. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but frankly, I didn't care much for it to be honest. If I only had a day in Helsinki, I certainly would just wander around the city centre, take the views from the Helsinki Cathedral (gorgeous building!), go to the National Museum and take in the hustle and bustle at the Harbor Market. Pray for good weather

Hi H,

Lovely city, but it;s been some time since I was last there.

Look it up under "Destinations".

Enjoy your visit.

Thanks so much everyone! Especially thank you SemiMike for the photo album. I'm about halfway through it (dial-up is soooo slow) but it has my husband and me very excited about our day there! I've printed out Abram's list too and will that as a guide. Viajero2's notes too are SO helpful!
Again, THANKS!

The art is not to everyone's taste but we enjoyed the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma.
