What to do in Cork and Cobh area

Four of us will be traveling into Cork city in September 21, we are spending one day before going to Ennis. We would appreciate any suggestions and advise on activities and places to visit. Thank you

If you're interested in gardens and/or cooking, visit the Ballymaloe Cookery School just a few miles from Cobh.

The Jameson distillery, in a Cork suburb, conducts an informative tour of its scenic old plant that employs modern techniques. When I visited several years ago I was quick to join the tasting after the walk-around. The Jameson brand is part of an international syndicate of brands that can be compared. The admission price has gone up, though.
