What to do and see in Paris?

My 15 year old son is leaving to spend three weeks in Paris on an exchange program. His host family has requested a list ofthings he would like to see and do while in Paris. Any suggestions outside the obvious (louvre, eiffel tower, etc.)

Get your son a guidebook and let him come out with a list. Hope this helps.

Continuing the "underground" theme, I'm sure he'd also enjoy the catacombs.

And Maira has the best idea. He's old enough to be doing a bit of reading and determining for himself what he would like to see, not just blindly following the suggestions of others!!

Believe me, my son will see and do what he wants. At 15, he does not blindly follow my directions - don't I sometimes wish! He has a guide book, but I'm just looking for personal suggestions that other people found interesting.

For example, he knew about the tour of the sewers, but didn't know if it would be interesting. Having it suggested by someone else gives it more weight as a place to see.

Thanks for all your replies and I hope you will keep them coming.

Advise him to see Paris Story--wonderful multimeda presentation playing hourly on the hour. Next door to the American Express on Rue Scribe, across the street from the Opera Garnier.

He can take the Metro to Grand Boulevards, then walk east on Blvd. Monmartre to Passage Jouffroy and see the wax museum. Right across the street in the Passage de Panoramas, "La Creperie" serves delicious ice cream sundaes.

He should definitely go up to Montmartre to Sacre-Coeur. Besides the great Atmosphere in Montmartre, so many young people (High School and College age) hang out on the steps of Sacre-Coeur. Where there is a wonderful view of the city below, and There are always musicians playing acoustic guitar versions of popular songs - Pearl Jam, Nirvana, etc. I hope that helps.
