Thanks all for your replies. I'm thinking now that I will have to cancel our August trip as it will take well past that to view/read all of your suggestions!!! Just kidding.
I'm looking forward to viewing several films I've not seen (Local Hero for example) and sharing some of my favorites with the kids.
Thanks again!

So many great movies have already been mentioned. Some other good movies I liked at the theater and now own them are:
The Queen, staring Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth, Anne of the Thousand Days, staring as Henry the VIII played by Richard Burton and Genevieve Bujold, Mary,Queen of Scots staring Vanessa Redgrave as Mary and Glenda Jackson as Queen Elizabeth.
For something that is rather fun, I suggest Bridget Jones Diary and the sequel, Bridget Jones Diary The Edge of Reason.
I also enjoyed the movie Miss Potter which is about Beatrix Potter. There are alot of movies pertaining to London and Scotland. I hope I gave you some good suggestions. I liked all of the movies that were suggested and will be adding those movies to my list.
