What is the most beautiful Park in Paris

I am looking for someone's opinion on the Parks in Paris. I am traveling with my husband and would like to visit a nice park to walk through with beautiful gardens and statues. Possibly would like to have a picnic as well in the afternoon. Any suggestions on which park would be the best for this?

MOst of them are nice, and while slightly different, Paris doesn't really have second-rate parks and good parks (I mean the major ones). But most of them don't have a lot of statues in them, some I don't think have any.

You aren't allowed to picnic in most of them, so forget that idea, if you mean get down on the grass. You can sit on a bench if you want. You can get down on the ground in some, I don't remember them all as I don't ever want to do that (I think Champ de Mars is one and maybe Place des Vosges).

Luxembourg is as good as any, I suppose, at least it does have some statues. I really like Montsouris but don't think any statues there. Parc Monceau is nice, also. I don't like the Tuileries.

For picnicking, the Parc des Buttes Chaumont and the Parc André Citroën are possibilities, but off the more common tourist areas.

The Luxenbourg is wonderful. We also love the sculpture and rose garden at Musee Rodin. There is a cafe next to the garden in back of the museum - a nice place to get a salad or sandwich and eat in the garden.

Try the Parc Monceau in the 17th, my personal favorite. Beautiful with interesting statues and "follies" but also a real neighborhood park surrounded by mansions. Rather than a picnic, hard to do in most Paris parks which discourage sitting on the grass, go to nearby market street Rue Poncelet and to Le Stubli, a wonderful place for lunch and pastries upstairs. It's at 11 Rue Poncelet. Note: both market & bakery closed Mondays. Metro stop Monceau for the park, Ternes for le Stubli & market.janeos

I would not picnic myself in any of the central parks, since I don't enjoy being stared at by hundreds of people wandering by. The good parks for picnics are the Buttes Chaumont, Villette, André Citroën, Montsouris.

We were at Buttes Chaumont in February. Even at that time of year we were impressed. I'm sure it's much nicer in May when the trees have leaves and the flowers are blooming.

I notice now that you didn't say what time of the year you would be in Paris. Somehow I just assumed May.

The Parc Monceau is my favorite park in Paris. Like another posted commented, you can sit on the grass here, unlike most of the other parks in Paris, and yes, you CAN in fact have a picnic here!! It's the perfect place for a picnic. The park is fairly small, but big enough so you can walk around and see different areas of the park, all very charming.
It's is the 17th arrondissement, which is primarily residential, not touristy, and very clean and beautiful!

Probably a bit late for the OP, but those interested in Paris parks would do well to consider Bercy. While it is modern, it has a lovely vineyard, nice water features, and leads to the interesting area of St. Emilion with nice renovations of old wine warehouses into trendy restaurants. It's one of my favorites.

Actually, ggbeck, Parc Monceau is in the 8th arrondissement. the 17th arrondissement starts across the street on the north side.
