I like the idea of California wine, even though we are bringing Kentucky burbon - Any suggestions there? How about American coins?
I've nixed the maple syrup idea...

I'm still considering running to the local bookstore to search for a nice book of photos that represent the U.S.- Ansel Adams comes to mind, as does a book depicting works of Frank Lloyd Wright - any others?

Although the Spanish have a large selection of good booze, I've always found that they want to try Bourbon. Maybe this would be a good gift.

The book idea is also good but maybe something with the Spainish touch. The Spanish heritage in California would be good or maybe something for some kind of book about the American native tribes. Navajo might be a good selection.

Maybe something (books) with the American slant on the spaghetti western movies. Most of these were filmed in Spain, so they're going to have some interest.

Maybe I'm wrong but most Spanish women use gold jewelry, as opposed to silver. It's just a bit to remember.

Your gifts are going to best when you think about a little and find something personal. Just finding something with American content might not be the right choice.

I'm not sure if the guayabera is appropriate. This is used for Latinos from South America. Spain is certainly European and mostly their heritage didn't come from the Americas. It's the reverse. Spanish food isn't hot or too spicy.

My post will give you a few more thoughts. It will be worth the time spending to choose the right gift.

There's a great coffee table book called CASA FLORIDA: HOUSES FROM WINTER PARK TO CORAL GABLES. (Or something similar.) It highlights the mediterranean architecture in Florida and has gorgeous photos. Also MIAMI STYLE and MIAMI INTERIORS. Borders/Barnes and Noble should have them. If not, Books and Books in Miami Beach, Coral Gables, and Bal Harbor tends to have a nice selection of coffee table books. Have a nice trip!

We are back from our wonderful trip to Spain and are already discussing our next visit!
Hershey's Kisses were at the top of the list as a favorite gift to take. Our friends told us that every night they'd each eat one before bedtime. They just really got a kick out them.
I didn't take any books and am sorry about that as our friends had books waiting for us when we arrived. But I am glad to report that they will visit with us in early December, so I'll have some of your suggested books waiting for them.
Blackduff, I don't think I explained about the guayabera since you had suggested that it may not be an appropriate gift. The reason why we chose the guayabera is because we live in Miami where it is very commonly used. There are even parties here with the "guayabera" as the theme!
Again, I want to thank all of you for helping with our list of gifts to take. I'll need to compile another list for our next visit - so keep those suggestions coming...
