Just got a response about a place in Italy from my hotel. Does that mean 15 feet (meters or something) like it does here, or does it mean 15 minutes-like in math problems using minutes and seconds. Since they dod not use feet, I am unsure if that refers to a linear distance like it does here.

I was asking where something is and how long it would take to get there from the hotel. I am assuming it means minutes-just want to be sure.

Assuming that you asked "how long will it take to get from point A to point B" then the answer you should have received should be a time measurement. If you asked how far something is from Point A to Point B, then you should have received a distance measurement.

Have you considered using a program like Mapquest or whatever the Italian equivalent is. After you input the origination and destination points, you'll get directions, including distance and approximate driving time.

I believe ' means feet and " means inches.

They don't use feet and inches in Italy. The ' symbol is used internationally to mean minutes.

Thanks Geoff that's what I thought since they don't have feet in Italy. I also thought I could not be that lucky that I was staying 15 feet(meters) away from where I needed to go. 15 minutes sounds close too. I'm just planning my day while I am there.

Of course, 15 minutes is based on the average walking time..could be shorter or longer depending on your stride length I suspect.
