Looks good to me. Of course the map doesn’t reveal the actual location but that area is near the major good neighborhoods. It is near Alfama which I wouldn’t want but on the whole a good pick.

It looks lovely and appears to be in the eastern section (Rua Madalena) of the flat grid of streets in the Baixa (very busy with pedestrians but also flat), not in the hilly Chiado or Alfama. Next year your dates won't coincide with Holy Week so perhaps Lisbon will be slightly less busy then. The Rua Madalena does climb up to the Alfama (I've walked it), but that location looks like it's in the southern part of the street.

One reviewer commented that in August the elevator wasn't working, so since it´s on the 5th floor, I would make sure that now it is in working order, or.....just be prepared to get a very good cardio workout! I would assume that the elevator has now been repaired. I just mention this because we (and maitaitom) have had bad "elevator and escalator karma" in the past.

It looks good to me. Much of Lisbon is extremely hilly. This is in the flat part. Very central.

When looking at the location again, it seems to be on the same level or slightly above the enormous Praça do Comércio/Terreiro do Paço, Lisbon's gateway to the city, next to the Tagus river, which is definitely flat.

It's not on the absolutely flat part. The view with the ship has the nearby buildings stepping down towards the shore. Given the position of the cathedral, I would say that it is on the hillside below the fort.

uppsala30,
Can you ask the owner to give you the street at least? It appears to be on Rua Madalena, which does slope up towards the cathedral (I remember that slope as I went to check on apartments further up on Madalena, the Madalena Hermitage) but.. it may sit on the Rua da Conceição, which is the side street running east-west, connecting Madalena to Franqueiros.
Rua da Conceição is flat.

Hi, thank you for all of your help. The actual address is 135 R. da Madalena. I just hope the elevator works when we are there, it was noted as broken in several reviews.
Maribel- do you have recommendations for a tour company to use for a day trip to Sintra.

If it’s 135 Madalena it’s further up than I thought and not where the airbnb map indicates, near the corner of Rua da Conceição. As I mentioned Rua Madalena slopes up. You'll be near the Elevador do Castelo. The apts that I know on that street, the Madalena Hermitage are at number 29, much closer to the river. You'll be above the Sé, Cathedral.

The guide that I use and maitaitom used works for Lisbon Tour Guides. They are lovely ladies.

Hi Maribel. I emailed the lisbontourguides you recommended and they are already booked for the dates in April 2024. Gosh and I thought I was planning way in advance - over 6 months out, Do you have any other suggestions?
