Don't know what the current thinking is, but I always lock each zip compartment of my checked luggage. Over the years I've had a few small items taken from unlocked outside compartments. I once passed through JFK on a rainy day and I KNEW my umbrella was going to get ripped off. It was.<BR><BR>The locks don't stop a serious thief, but they do prevent the temptation to rifle through and see if there's anything you want.
