sunlover, I'm still laughing. My car is ten years old, has required about $2K worth of repairs, tires, etc. over the years. So I've still got $18K more to spend on travel than a person who's been laying out $273 per month all that time. My car gets 24 MPG city, 30 MPG highway; no matter how bad the mileage gets it won't cost me an extra $273 per month! You are paying dearly for your new cars and the security of a warranty; remember, car dealers make a profit on all that stuff, which means that customers take a loss!

Enjoyed the replies to my post about the Declaration of Independence. I must say, that however many times I read the word "We hold these truths to be self evident..." that I gain new understandings.
Best wishes to all as America celebrates.

A few years ago I moved back into my chldhood home which I inherited. It is now a blue-collar neighborhood and I am nearly the only native English speaking person around here. I drive a car that is about seven years old, so the house and the car are paid for. I have been at my employment for a long time and I am fairly secure in my finances and get six weeks vacation. So...I go to Europe two or three times a year.

Janda,
Getting back to you...! Yes, I almost always travel alone, but I play in many music festivals, so when I arrive in Rome & Prague, I will meet others from the festivals & have instant friends!
A great way to travel & get into the groove of everyday European life. I also take side trips, but those are on my own. People are always friendly, though, so I never go a day without good conversation. I believe Janda is some sort of Slavic name - because I see that name quite often in Prague/ Eastern Europe. Happy Travels!
