This is funny as I am just making a list of things for my mother to bring me next month....I am an expat living in the French Alps. I truly miss and always bring:

Microwave popcorn
Brown Sugar
Baking Soda/powder due to altitude
Root Beer
Peanut Butter
Unsweetened Cereal...Cheerios!
Cheap toiletries/cosmetics
OTC drugs

Some expats I know are regularly shipping Hamburger Helper and Meal-in-a-box kits, but we try to live w/o those! France is really coming along with some products such as PAM, pre-made dough and deli products.

Whenever I travel to Paris I'm expected to bring a cache of Burt's Bees products. My friend picked up an addiction to the brand during her time in the states!

In exchange, I get peach-scented fabric softener and big bottles of water spray. In the US I'm only able to find Evian at $20 for a large bottle.

I simply cannot image Europeans with their 56% Government subsidies of agriculture, their wonderful fresh dairy, meat, produce, etc. even thicking of eating processed US "junk food".

After reading the replies I realize that eventhough I do live in the US, I also bring in "supplies" from other places-ie. Gibbles potatoe chips, Talarico steak sauce and spices from a market in Atlanta. I live in a VERY rural part of Colorado and I miss all the old east coast stuff!

"Lets keep the Betty crocker site between you and me as 'looking for Bisquick' could be another reason to persuade my husband to take me back to the USA! Do you think he'll buy it?"

Hey, it's worth a shot.

A least one big duffel bag full of stuff from Wal-Mart. Given that things like saline (for contacts) costs at least 10 GBP ($18) for a small bottle in the UK and $6 for a large bottle at Wal-Mart, I can usually pay for my airfare just by buying stupid things like that.

Go to Walgreens and stock up on make up and Tylenol. Also, Paul Newman's roasted garlic and balsimic vinegar dressing...yum!

My friend in the UK always takes back twinkies which makes me laugh along with Pace Picante Sauce which they can't get in Northwest England and lots of clothes. He also really loves the socks here in the US and constantly asks me to mail him some.

Not a visitor, but an expat living in Euopre. Here's the list for my husband's upcoming trip to the U.S.:
new luggage (will take the old luggage over and leave it behind). You can get Sansomite in Europe pretty easily, but not the other luggage brands we like (Atlantic, for example) and prices are a lot cheaper in the U.S.
Hickey-Freeman suit from Nordstrom's
Men's dress shoes (my husband's feet are too big to look good in Italian shoes)
a lightweight notebook computer
new digital camera
Zantac
chocolate licorice from the Lebanon (PA) farmer's market--note: there is NO relationship between the Zantac above and the licorice ;-)
Various CDs and DVDs (we can play Amerian DVDs on our European computers)

Harry & David goodies and relishes
Bodega chocolate bars
MAC products (they cost more in Asia)
Clinique products (they cost more in Asia)
GAP products
Krispy Kreme donuts
Casual clothes, accessories and houseware from outlets in New Jersey and NY
Jelly beans
Splenda (but now it's available where I live and the price difference is not much so that's one less item from my checklist =) )

Bush beans..can't get them "up here"..I also love taking a trip to Trader Joe's when I'm on Long Island and buying their own label stuff. And of course we always pick up liquor while we're there-so much cheaper than here even with the exchange. Too bad we're only allowed 40 oz. each.
