What country are you?
If countries could be people, which one would you be and why? Answer can't be the country you live in...
I know this is veering dangerousl toward Dating Game territory (if you were my alar clock, how would you wake me up anyone?) but i thought it would be fun.

Hopefully, historic answers are allowed... I'll take two that no longer exist...
the Republic of California, 1846-1848
and
la Repubblica Marinara di Venezia, twelfth century-1797.
Both, because they were places where the rules were being made up, as they went along... because they were places of extraordinary beauty... because they were places where there were fortunes to be had, if your karma was right.
Curious... were we supposed to limit to countries in Europe, since this is asked on the Europe forum?
Good opportunity for "bonding" and positive posting, Peter...
Best wishes,
Rex

We had a whole big thread based on this quiz about two years ago, but I can't find it.

Took the quiz again. I'm still France [after a brief side-excursion to Cyprus]
Why would it be France for me?
Of course there is the architecture, the wine, the food, the history.
But in the end I respect a people whose behavior is based on several thousand years of negotiating a decent life.
