Westminster Verger Tours 6/17, 6/18

Just in case anyone is planning to do a Verger Tour of Westminster on these dates, this is a reply that came back to me.

"I'm afraid we will not be running Verger Tours in the afternoons of 17 and 18 June. This is due to sceduled concert rehearsals in the Abbey. Please let me know if there are alternative times you could join a tour.

With best wishes
Katharine Hall
Information"

I am having fun searching this forum for ideas about my itinerary. I posted it a few weeks ago and received excellent suggestions. Right now I just take every item on my agenda, put it in as a search term, and receive a wealth of info. I will probably post revised itinerary one more time before I leave, as fodorites have been so informative and helpful.

I wasn't aware that you could prebook the verger tours. How did you go about this? Thanks. We will be leaving 5/22 for England and will be in London 6/1-6/5. Can hardly wait.

I don't know anything about pre-booking a verger tour, but on a daily basis, the schedules can vary due to the availability of the vergers. We went on the Verger tour and it was excellent. Try to get there first thing in the morning since these tours fill up quickly. We had gone later in the day to Westminster Abbey only to find out that they only had two verger tours that day and they were fully booked; we opted to come back at a different day. We were advised to call ahead on the day we plan to visit to check the times of the verger tours. If you can, try to join this tour. It was quite interesting.

Smroan, thank you so much for posting this info. I was planning on doing Westminster Abbey on June 18th! I'll have to move this to Saturday. I would have been really upset had I been surprised by this. Thanks again, Susan.

I just received a confirmation for the 11am tour on June 18th! Thanks for the pre-booking tip. I have this tour at 11am followed by the clock tower tour at 2:30. Does anyone know how close the St. Stephens entrance to Westminster Palace is to the Abbey? That's where we have to meet for the clock tower tour by 2:10 (14:10). We may just do lunch at the Jubilee Cafeteria off Westminster Hall. This cafeteria was referenced in our clock tower tour letter. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Susan

I guess I'm frustrated as I've sent 3 e-mails to the e-mail listed and haven't gotten any reply back. Listed dates and times that we would be in London, etc. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Julie

Jarmn, I went to www.westminster-abbey.org. Then clicked on "contact us" in the right side menu. There's an email link there for tour times, reservations, etc.. I did this on Friday afternoon and had a response today. Hope this helps. Susan

Nod, that's the link I sent the e-mail to. I'm not sure why I am not getting a response. Maybe one will come through tonight. Thanks!
