West Sicily + Egadi Islands

Hi everyone,
I need help brainstorming a trip to West Sicily. We want to do Palermo, San Vito lo Capo, Trapani/Erice (likely for just 1 night), and the island of Favignana. Has anyone visited Favignana or the other two islands close by? I am a bit concerned about lack of actual beaches on the island, but it seems you can bike around/rent a boat and the town of Favignana seems fairly lovely.

Any advice here appreciated! If there's something fabulous in Western Sicily I am missing please don't hesitate to share.

Yes, I visited the Egadi Islands, and also Erice and Trapani, although it was a while ago now. I was bored by the islands, but I was there before the season really got started. On the other hand I absolutely loved both Erice and Trapani, and one night for Trapani, never mind for both, would be far too little time for me. I wrote a TR for that trip, start here for these places: Crumbling Palazzos and Creamy Cannoli - Savoring Sicily

Trapani is really lively in the evening. I also recommend more than one night there. Maybe get there the first evening, day trip to Erice the next day, back down to Trapani for another late afternoon/evening.

In Trapani they have a special kind of pizza you can try in an old brothel (called Calvino.) In Erice, go for a meal at Gli Archi di San Carlo.. it is soooooooo good.

Favignana is the only Egadian Island with sandy beaches. I enjoyed it.
There are 2 rather important archeological sites in Western Sicily: Segesta (hill area) and Selinunte (above a sandy beach).
Count 2 days for a decent visit of Palermo and Monreale, a bit more if you add Cefalu and it's sandy city beach.
Hiking is fine in the Riserva naturale dello Zingaro, south of San Vito lo Capo.

Segesta was one of our favorites in Sicily.

Ok, not sure if this posted, so I asked earlier, how many days in Scopello and how about in May when there is no swimming for me?? I love to swim, hiking not too much..you know me now..food is the #1 thing....

Been to Palermo but willing to go again......drop car there and take bus to airport....or drive from Scopello...we can walk but not do long hikes..partner too infirm for that....soo sad to say....

Let me telll you again how helpful you are......read the NTimes about outsiders relocating to Newfonudland, of all places...sound good to me!

eks - if you're not going to hike or swim, not sure there's much point in going to Scopello. I suppose if you're driving you could do a short hike for the views, but simpler just to enjoy the stellar views from Erice.

San Vito is a resort with a sandy beach and many hotels and b&bs whereas Scopello is a tiny village with some small pebble/sand coves akong the way to San Vito.
