In the Highlands, it's a good idea to pull in and allow locals to pass you. That particularly applies if you are the head of a "procession".

we have plenty of single track roads here in Cornwall - you can tell the ones that aren't used much by the grass growing down the middle. We actually decided against buying a particular house because part of the only road to it was single track, and I could see trouble ahead on school runs and early starts at work.

sometimes I regret it, but not often.
