Weather in Switzerland

Using weatherunderground to check on weather in Switzerland for the rest of this week. Going to Engelberg first, and the two closest towns with forecasts seem to be Zurich (airport) or Altdorf. Which one may be most accurate for Engelberg? I hope the answer is the latter, because they're predicting sun/clouds, while Zurich says rain.

Stans (where I live) is the nearest to Engelberg on this forecast:

While these websites are pretty accurate: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-b...55&LANG=en

It has cooled down considerably overnight. All of June was very hot with record highs. The rain, while a bit of a downer, is much needed.

I thought I would post a few rainy day suggestions for you.

The Festung Fürigen near Stansstad (on road to Kehrsiten) is VERY interesting. A completely self-sufficent WWII defensive cave system that you can tour. Open Saturdays and Sundays only 11-17:00. http://www.nidwaldner-museum.ch/seit...g/fuer_set.htm

Of course the Swiss Transport museum in Luzern is excellent.

Further afield-A new rain forest exhibit has just opened at the Zurich Zoo that is supposed to be excellent. http://www.masoala.ch/index_en.html .

The Ballenberg Open air Museum near Interlaken is good on a lightly drizzly day: http://www.ballenberg.ch/english/explorer.htm

Trümmelbach Falls near Lauterbrunnen is good too: http://www.truemmelbachfaelle.ch/

I second the idea of seeing the interior falls near Lauterbrunnen...absolutely wonderful and oft overlooked...perhaps because they are privately owned and one has to pay an admission fee...but I think it is worth it.

Thanks for the weather sites and rainy day suggestions.

Have you been very dry so far this year? I know last year, after one of our worst droughts in New Jersy, we were estatic when it finally rained, so if that's the case there, I certainly understand how you feel.

We're prepared for mountain weather with our Goretex and different layers, and know we'll have a wonderful time no matter what.
