Weather In Ireland

Planning a motor tour (Tauck) to Ireland in 2007. Thinking about either June or September. Is ther a "best" month to go weather wise?

Mid May, early June and September are mostly better than Late June, July and August.

I was there the first 2 weeks in Sept this year. Loved it. I can't speak for the other months or past Septembers, but it only really rained (used here loosely to refer to a drizzle heavy enough that a jacket and hood were used) for about 3 hours during the day on one day in 2 weeks. And the crowds were very small. I vote for Sept over June.

I think early september is the best time to travel here (Ireland), the kids have gone back to school, so the roads are relatively clear, and the weather is usually kind!

I have found that the best weather there is late May early June & then maybe early September. The best thing about June though is that it only starts to get dark after 9.30 but still light enough at 11.00 whilst in September it is dark around 8.30 & rapidly darkens thereafter.
Irish rain is very diferent to English rain - probably because it is less polluted & most rain falls as a refreshing fine mist.

You make the Irish rain sound so romantic " a fine mist"... bless your heart, but I beg to differ It buckets down just like England

The best weather is usually in May, with September coming a close second.

I concur with Lucielou - the rain here is the same as the rain in England. Sometimes you do get a nice soft mist - but I've also had this in the UK, however more often it buckets down!!
