Weather in Castelrotto and Guarda in August?
Hi all, I leave for a 5 week period with my 2 small kids! Packing is turning out to be aquite a complicated task since the first leg of our holiday is to the States where we spend 3 weeks in NJ at my brother's home and then leave for Europe for 2 weeks (my husband joins us there). I know the US will be quite hot and Austria will probably need light layers but I am wondering if Castelrotto and Guarda will need heavy jackets and woolies? Any idea? Believe me the packing is turing out to be quite a nightmare. The last thing I want is to carry too much stuff that is not required or vice versa. Thanks for your replies.

Bozen is located down in the main valley, the villages you mentioned not. Expect Castelrotto to be about 5 C/8 F colder, Guarda 10 C/18 F colder.
From my experience the weather changes quickly. In Guarda e.g. it can even snow in August (not staying on the ground, though). Definitely bring layers, but also T-Shirts.

Ingo is right. It could snow but the chance of rain is higher.
We usually have awful June months and terrific August months. Last year was the worst August we've experienced for a long time but June was nice. We had a terrific June this year but only the Muotathaler Wetterfrosch know about August....
Bring layers, wind jackets and umbrellas but I'd leave the heavy jackets at home. Tennis shoes are fine since I doubt you'll be doing any difficult hikes.
Enjoy Switzerland and Austria! Those are two beautiful areas you'll be visiting.
