Water temp on the Algarve

Is the beach water on the Algarve warm enough to swim in mid-May? Thanks

There is no absolute answer, it depends on the swimmer.
You should expect 22, 23 degrees. In my opinion it is quite good.

I was in the Algarve last May, and the weather was very warm and sunny, and there were people swimming. The water was a little cool, but we were able to catch quite a bit of sun!

Swimming

Yes, it's warm enough. I swam there in May a few years back and like lobu_mau indicates, it was probably 22 C. The best days were when the sea was rough and you could crash into the huge waves all day! Algarve is the most beautiful landscape in Europe, IMO.

If its warm enought to swim depends on where you're from and what kind of water you're used to. If you're from florida or the Caribbean it may be too cold for you - if you're from New York it will be balmy.
