Actually ,, as a woman, using a facecloth on face can cause aging, the tugging and pulling on delicate skin. I haven't used a cloth on my face ever,, and I have beautiful skin thanks, lol About once a week I use a cream to exfoilliate.
And btw,, French women have beautiful skin, they wear very little makeup and look stunning at 60,, all without the daily scrubbing with a rag.
Keeping out of the sun is the single most important thing one can do to keep skin looking young.

justineparis, if you are referring to me, it was the rest of my body I was referring to according to the doctor. Not my face.
I didn't mean to imply that scrubbing one's FACE with a wash cloth promotes good skin (although I do know there are some who say it does).

Is your body milky white, lol, only reason I ask is I maintain scrubbing ones skin with a cloth doesn't keep it young looking if its sun damaged. My bf is only 50, and he uses a washcloth daily as he works in a grubby job, he unfortunately got alot of sun , working on the water for years, and sunworshipping, and his skin is definately not white,, and definately looks its age( but hes a handsome rascal regardless!!)
If a cloth could keep us young we'd all be using them ,, some of us hourly!!lol

this is all lighthearted folks,, I personally do not care if a person uses a cloth or not, but to answer OPs post, cloths are not common in most Europeon hotels, most especially not budget to moderate ones,, big American style chain hotels like Mariotts and Hiltons likely do supply them though. Best to bring some if you need them.

wow. I never meant it is a miracle worker or keep you young! And it's not going to make up for sun ravaging. But to answer your question, I've lived in Florida for nearly 40 years and I am far from milky white.
Isn't it the Scandinavians who developed loofas (?) and swear by the idea of exfoliating the skin with a daily gentle scrubbing?
There are few dermatologists (if any) who will say that "gentle scrubbing of the skin" is not a good thing! That's pretty well universally agreed upon. Rubbing soapy water over your bare body just using your hand or the bar of soap is NOT a good way to do ANY exfoliating.

We've seen a good number of older Frenchwomen on our travels in France with rough, unappealing skin -- almost all of them smokers and sunworshippers. It's not about nationality, it's about your genes and how you take care of your skin.
