Warm or cool in Paris?

Hi.
I'll be going over to Paris sometime in the first week of August. Any idea what the weather's going to be like?
I'm mainly concerned what coat/shoes to pack cause Ryanair only allows carry-on and that really puts a damper on what to pack.
Thanks.

Check a few days before you go. It's hard enough to predict the weather for next week, forget about 6 weeks from now.

Ryanair will let you check a suitcase if you pay for it.

We have been in Paris since June 1. In that time high temps have ranged from around 60 (degrees F) to above 80.

Bookmark weather.com for Paris and begin to watch the forecast a couple of weeks before you leave. It is unlikely you will need a coat. Paris can be hot in August. But you will probably need an umbrella.

I wouldn't take any coat in August. I would take some kind of sweater for evening, and then maybe a very thin poly jacket or hip-length coat in case it rains a lot, not for warmth. YOu could layer the two if you have to. I have a couple of those I use for travel, they roll up very small. YOu could do without it, if you don't have room. I also may layer a cardigan sweater over a cami or sleeveless Tshirt/top. I like the thin cotton/rayon cardigans you can actually wear as a top if buttoned up, they are good for summer as they aren't that heavy.

Are you from the UK? It's not that different weather from London. YOu really can't expect Paris to be cool in August. Sure, it can be, but that would not be the norm for August weather, it is summer.

It varies but layers are always travel essentials. I always take a large wrap with me, great for chilly aircraft and when you need it at night, in the summer. A small travel umbrella is also a must.

Thanks everyone. Exactly what I needed to know. Christina, thanks for the many tips. I'm from Ireland, and that's so not like London weather ;p
