Okay, I got it! We live close to San Francisco, and I think it's fair to compare the two cities in terms of what to wear. Although I don't wear jeans and sneakers to San Francisco, lots of people do. And in a city where you see a lot of tourists, most anything is accepted... especially Visa and MasterCard!

Thanks again to all of you who wrote.

I usually travel to Europe in early spring or fall, when jeans (nicely fitted, not baggy)feel good. I take multiple pairs, blue, brown, black, black velvet and have no trouble with wrinkles. Being darker colors they also don't show spots, should I get any. I wear them with nice tops or sweaters and accessories during the day. In the evenings I usually wear skirts or dark crepe slacks.

youre going to look like a tourist anyhow
if you have a camera or a book or a map
as soon as you open your mouth0 everyone knows

whats wrong with being a tourist?
as long as youre careful with belongings then i dont see a problem
if people want to be rude to you cos youre a tourist so be it

the only times ihave been robbed is in my own country - not travelling in foreign places

when we go to turkey we are going to look like tourists - im not about to get into turkish garb- so yep im going to stick out

What is "Turkish garb"? When we were in Turkey, people dressed in a variety of styles just as they do most anywhere.
